s my journey towards alternate learning options continues, I have been able to meet more people who resonate with my views and are also looking for alternate ways of learning. These include people from various backgrounds, including those who want to learn in a more structured environment and those who wish to explore their own interests.

I met Lizz Quain this week- she is WorldSchooling Expert

What is Worldschooling?

Worldschooling is a unique and exciting approach to learning that focuses on the big picture rather than the traditional structure of schooling. It involves immersing oneself in different cultural experiences, travelling to new countries, exploring unfamiliar places and taking part in hands-on learning activities. Worldschoolers learn about the world by directly engaging with it in an experiential and meaningful way. This approach encourages students to be active, independent thinkers and helps them form their own opinions while developing the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to make an impact in the world.

Lizz shared with me her story of how she got into Worldschooling, what motivated her to start it, and the incredible experiences she has had since then. She believes that the traditional schooling system fails to provide students with a holistic view of the world and that Worldschooling is more effective in this regard.

Who is Worldschooling for?

Worldschooling is for anyone who wants to explore different cultures and lifestyles, gain insight and grow as an individual. It is also great for those looking for an alternate way of learning – one that combines structure with flexibility and allows the learner to pursue their own interests.

Lizz's Rich experience in Worldschooling

She has traveled to 50 countries so far and she has been able to learn and gain so much insight from the various cultures and lifestyles she has come across. She told me that world schooling was an eye-opening experience for her which helped shape her understanding of the world, its people, and culture. She has been living this lifestyle for the past 6 years with her twin daughters and she is passionate about helping others experience the same.

This has been another great journey in my exploration of alternate learning options and I am excited for what comes next!  With the help of experts like Lizz, I know that I can continue to expand my knowledge base and explore different cultures and lifestyles through world schooling. Thank you,

Her Current Location

Currently, she is in Bansko with one of her twin daughters, she was very kind to share all the details of her stay there with me. She mentioned that her daughter has enrolled with the local programs and activities which are open to all, and the city itself is full of learning opportunities. She also told me about the local food, culture, and the people of Bansko which she has grown very fond of.

Lizz on World schooling

What I have learned from my conversation with Lizz Quain is that world schooling is a great way for anyone to explore different cultures and lifestyles, gain insight and grow as an individual.

If you are looking for an alternate way of learning, world schooling is definitely worth considering.

Liz said a very interesting thing that travel life is not only for people living in first world countries but also for people living in less privileged countries. She mentioned that there are many ways to gain knowledge and understanding from other cultures, and world schooling is just one of them.

Worldschoolers and experienced travelers are more likely to live as individuals pursuing their passions vs conforming to what society expects of them. They are less likely to care about other people’s judgments. They are more likely to be free in more ways than one.

Lizz on Child-led Learning

She ensures that her kids get to decide what interests them the most and pursue it, instead of feeding them with information. They research the places they like to travel to and she mentors them through the learning process.

Lizz talks about child-led learning and being open to exploring different ways of learning. She mentioned that there are numerous activities available in each country, and it is up to us to decide which one is the best fit for our children. Her kids have gone to online schools, learned languages from tutors, engaged in outdoor activities, and traveled and lived in various countries.

My 13-year-old daughter Gabby has been able to choose what she wants to learn and spend her time on for most of the past 6+ years we’ve been worldschooling.

it’s her decision to learn, create and immerse herself into what she wants, at least when it comes to her education. She follows her interests and passions.

We often talk in our family about focusing on creating, not just consuming. Yes it’s great to spend hours watching your favorite animation, but it’s better to create your own. Gabby gets really into the storyline and characters of her favorite shows. She can geek out on talking about them. Perhaps one day it will help her create her own. For kids to create what comes from inside themselves. Not to please a teacher or get a good grade. But for the inherent love of creating. For the intrinsic motivation of making art because she wants and HAS to. Because it feeds her soul. Because it’s who she is.

Lizz's Advice to parents who want to explore Worldschooling

Lizz advises those who wish to explore alternative learning options to go out and explore, and travel if possible, as it is an amazing way to learn and understand different cultures and societies. She believes it can be a powerful tool for personal growth and understanding. She also gives ideas on how to make income to have such a lifestyle , such as working from home and becoming entrepreneurs.

My kids are the reason we are nomadic. My aim is to raise free-thinking global citizens. If I didn’t have kids, I’d probably be an expat somewhere and travel less frequently. I traveled plenty of pre-kids which opened my eyes to the rest of the world.

Relating to Lizz's Journey

I could easily connect with her journey as I myself have been exploring alternative ways of learning, be it in a structured environment or an unstructured one. My curiosity was piqued when I heard about world schooling and I am certain that it will be an incredible experience for those who want to travel and learn.

We don’t miss the typical “normal” lifestyle. Such as participating in the rat race. Long commutes to jobs in the city. Having parents and kids separated all day at offices or schools. Working hard and at the whim of our corporate bosses who may or may not care about us as people. Kids learning in government schools how to conform and become good obedient future corporate workers. Dealing with the increasing cost of living and having to work even harder to stay afloat. Scurrying around to get all the daily tasks and obligations completed. Then doing the same the next day. Living for the weekends and rare vacations. When we can finally (try to) connect with our family.

Lizz's Work and Course

Lizz is launching a 12-week program that will teach people the basics of world schooling and provide them with the necessary tools to make it happen.

This program will be a great way for anyone interested in exploring world schooling to get started and gain some insight into this amazing learning experience. The program focuses more on travelers who are looking to live a life like a local  wherever they go, as this is a great way to learn more about the culture and people.

This is a group program, where families can learn how to educate kids. There will be live sessions, and group discussions to help families make world schooling an enjoyable experience.

She is interviewing people who have implemented world schooling to share their experiences.

She is offering a 75% discount for the first cohort which starts in January 2023.

She talks about her journey and gives tips and tricks on her website and social media accounts. You can also find her 12-week program which she offers to those who are looking to world school their children.

This is truly a heart-centered business for me. I advocate this lifestyle because I see so many benefits in my family and in others. I recently posted a big pro and con list of worldschooling. So this is what I want to dedicate the next many, many years to. To help more families take the plunge, stop being afraid to make this life change and just go for it!
